There are 11 themed rooms at Activate — Push, Hide, Hoops, Control, Grid, Pipees, Arena, Climb, Laser, Super Grid and Trench — that have a total of 40 games among them, each of which lasts 1-3 minutes. All of the games require some physical activity — for example, crawling under lasers, climbing handholds on a short wall, running around a colored grid on the floor to collect Tetris-like “puzzle pieces,” or playing a version of Pac-Man by moving a balance pedestal.
On Friday, Activate manager Joshua Whisenant gave LEO a walk-through of the space and demonstrated how to play many of the games that Activate offers.
Whisenant said that the games are set up for at least two people and no more than five people; larger groups should divide themselves up. The guests at Activate on Friday afternoon included a group of teenagers, a young boy’s birthday party, several families and an adult group of friends.
Currently, Activate Games is open at 2510 Hurstbourne Gem Lane from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
Sunday through Friday, a general admission timeslot of 75 minutes costs $25 (plus tax); on Saturday, timeslots are only available in 60-minute increments. On each day, guests can buy 30 minutes of extra time for $10 each.
