The 20 Most Anticipated New Restaurants Coming To Louisville In 2022

The past two pandemic years have been hard on Louisville's restaurants, but somehow, our city keeps adding more... and more... and more... and more...

Hey, we're not complaining. Our bellies are full. Our taste buds satisfied.

2022 is looking no different. In fact, some restaurants have already opened this month. For being a week into the new year, that's pretty good.

Some of the restaurants that are opening soon are chains, some are new locations of Louisville favorites and others are bringing something completely different to our food scene. Find them all here.

Sidebar at Whiskey Row has long been a downtown Louisville favorite. Now, the bar that’s perfect for drinks before a show or YUM Center game, is opening a sibling bar that’s literally just around the corner from its original location. Backside replaces The Hall, a German restaurant.

Man, we really are getting quite a few new breakfast places in Louisville. Big Bad Breakfast, founded by a James Beard-nominated chef, will occupy the space of what used to be Lynn's Paradise Cafe years ago. The new location is slated to open in “early 2022,” and they're currently doing a big hiring push.

Guaca Mole Cocina Mexicana

This isn’t actually a new restaurant per se –– it’s just a restaurant that’s moving into a new space. The Mexican restaurant Guaca Mole is currently in the process of relocating from its Ormsby Station Road location to 900 E. Market St. in NuLu.

This isn’t actually a new restaurant per se –– it’s just a restaurant that’s moving into a new space. The Mexican restaurant Guaca Mole is currently in the process of relocating from its Ormsby Station Road location to 900 E. Market St. in NuLu.

The StrEATery
Opening by March 1 
304 Woodlawn Ave. 
We broke the story about this new international food hall in Beechmont last month, and we’re excited for what’s to come when it opens this spring. We already know there’ll be a brunch restaurant, another outpost of owner Dung Tran’s concept Fresh Out The Box and a second location of Billy's Chili, but keep an eye out for updates on the other vendors who’ll be filling the space.

Although there’s no specific date listed yet for when Freddy’s will open in Middletown, they’ve got an address listed on their website –– 12929 Shelbyville Road –– and a promise that it is coming “soon.” They’ve also got a Shepherdsville location if you want to try out the restaurant before it arrives in the East End. As you can guess, their menu includes frozen custard and steakburgers, plus other American dishes.

This Lexington-based pizza chain has been trying to break into the Louisville market for over a decade. After some issues with finding a location, it finally opened this January in the new Baxter apartment complex. This New York-style joint fit for a Soprano also serves craft cocktails.

This Lexington-based pizza chain has been trying to break into the Louisville market for over a decade. After some issues with finding a location, it finally opened this January in the new Baxter apartment complex. This New York-style joint fit for a Soprano also serves craft cocktails.

Fans of healthy smoothies and juices will bloom at Blossom Bar. The grand opening of the healthy bar’s second location was delayed because of the pandemic, but it’s now slated for Monday, January 10, inside the Rainbow Blossom at Highlands Market.
